Wegovy and Zepbound are FDA-approved for weight loss. Ozempic is FDA-approved for Type 2 Diabetes and prescribed off-label for weight loss at provider discretion.
The FDA resolved the semaglutide shortage on April 22, 2025. Compounding is permitted only for individually identified patients when a prescribing practitioner determines that the compounded preparation produces a significant difference for their patient compared to the FDA-approved product.
